Properties | return
Properties are designated areas of territory within a city. Properties are normally defined by the gamemaster, however, participants can suggest unused areas to be made into a property. Most properties have buildings on them, but this is not always the case.
Buildings allow for the creation of materials and products, and are often used as a place of storage. A building is considered permament if it remains in place for more than 1 gameday. Buildings can be several types of structures or furnitures. Common examples of buildings are playhouses, desks, tables, beds, tents, and structures built by participants out of various objects. Buildings were integrated into the game in NOV24 with many other rules of MicroCiv version 2. Prior to this, there was no distinction between buildings and properties.
Temporary buildings and properties without buildings are not included in the following statistics. For the Eternal City Regenesis Sub Era (MAY23-OCT24), properties that would have been grandfathered in as also having buildings are counted. For the City Era (1989-1996), estimates are used based on consistent ownership of most relatively stable properties. Non-participant entities are not included unless they have at least 1 building. Participants that did not partake in the designated timeframe are also not listed. Though buildings can be an indicator of power and wealth, an entity's total buildings alone are not necessarily an accurate representation of skill due to possible variations in circumstance. It is also important to note that some properties without buildings can possess significant value and that some buildings do not hold much value because of their location or provided materials and products.
