Great Woodland War | return

The Great Woodland War is used to define the many battles and skirmishes that randomly took place in or near the Zuave region from 1992 to 1994. The usual belligerents were the Republic of Kelm and Woodland. Other countries often stayed clear of the fighting or took part as minor powers, usually on the side of Kelm. There were no long-term consequences of the conflict, and neither side was a clear winner.

The Battle of High Hills
While the bulk of Kelm forces were away on reconaissance missions, the region of Jonesland was invaded by a squad of Woodland soldiers. The Kelm garrison at the blue tent in High Hills convincingly routed the Woodland contingent. Kelm soldier Geoff Luxtari sent Woodland soldier Kalvin Zuave to the hospital; fortunately, his only injury was the temporary loss of a fingernail.

The Battle of Berry City
A relatively strong Kelm expeditionary force was wreaking havoc near Berry City and was ferociously expelled by determined Woodland troops.

The Battle of Cana and Kelm
Sometime during the Great Woodland War, Cana, Austin, and Ducktown briefly united in fighting a successful battle against the Republic of Kelm. It is unknown why Cana and their allies fought Kelm, as the countries generally had positive relations. It is also unknown if Cana were also allies with Woodland during the battle or if they fought against Kelm because of a separate issue. Cana and its allies captured the much older Kelm soldier, Reginald Goldstein, and committed war crimes against him. The threat of this alliance forced Scottie Smith, the Chief of the Republic of Kelm, to sue for peace so that Kelm's forces could be concentrated against Woodland's army. The terms of the armistice are not remembered.

The Battle of Boboron and Kelm
The Battle of Boboron and Kelm is the only instance in which Boboron was ever in military conflict with Kelm, and the reasons for it are not remembered. The battle was extremely brief and resulted in a humiliating defeat for Boboron. Boboron forces were heavily outnumbered and poorly supported by their temporary Woodland allies. Boboron's leader, Kent Luxtari, was captured and held prisoner by Kelm forces for the duration of the day. Kelm soldier Ben Williams committed war crimes against Kent during his imprisonment. The battle resulted in Kelm forces being able to hold the center of Woodland for an extended period of time. Beyond this, nothing else came of the battle.
