Chess and custom variations of Chess may have been played competitively during the City Era as it was a popular game amongst some of the participants. This was a result of the Smith's father teaching the the game at a very young age. During the Inter Game Era, Greg Smith dominated the game. Chaturanga, Chess, and Stratego were used from May 2023 to September 2024 as the activity to simulate combat, though no wars took place during this time. These were then replaced with a Darebase variant to simulate combat.
