Crime | return

This element of the game involves all criminal acvivity, physical espionage, illegal immigration, law enforcement, and physical oppression. During the City era, all forms of crime and policing were physically carried out as in real life. From May 2023 to September 2024, checkers was used as the activity to simulate crime. The initiator would be required to submit .1 force which would be lost regardless of the outcome. They would also state their intention (stealing, exile, et cetera) and target. Both parties could have other willing participants play for them. If a crime was successful, the instigator could take any 3 items from the defender. If exile was successfull, the participant or organization could not take actions within the city unless they used the same process and won. However, no instance of crime or policing happened during this time. Checkers was then replaced with a custom variant of Chaturanga, also known as Chaturaji, with most of the same rules. The cost to initiate crime or policing is now 1 force. Successful criminal activity now results in the instigator to take up to 9 items from their victim when successful. Also, 4 participants can take part in the match, but the first 3 must each submit 1 force card.

Chaturanga | Chaturaji
The variation uses pieces from Abe's Chaturanga. Each player automatically gets 1 pawn and 1 rajah piece and can place them anywhere in their quarter of the board. The initiator chooses first. If 2nd and 3rd players join, they will place their initial pieces in the order they joined. The defender places their pieces last. After this is complete, in the same order, each player will roll their choice of dice. They will receive the piece rolled for in addition to another pawn. If the blank side of the dice is the result, they will receive a counsellor piece. After this is complete, this is done once more. Players then have the choice to submit another force card for 2 additional rolls. These pieces will be placed in 2 rounds if more than 1 player submits an additional force card. A player is allowed to submit force cards until their quarter of the board is filled with pieces. Players can only play for 1 team at a time. Starting with the initiator, players move 1 piece each play. Players can choose to attack whoever they want during the game. If a player's rajah is captured, all their pieces are removed from the game. The game ends when only 1 rajah remains or if all but one player resign. 1 force card for every 3 surviving pieces can be redeemed unless a player loses their rajah, but a greater amount of force cards can't be redeemed than submitted by any player.
